Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM
Version II of this popular lens also sees the inclusion of a revised Optical Image Stabilizer, which now compensates for five stops of camera shake and offers three distinct stabilization modes to suit different shooting applications. A ring-type USM and internal focusing mechanism also afford quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance, as well as full-time manual focus override. Additionally, this lens is weather-sealed for use in trying environmental conditions.
Versatile telephoto zoom is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs however, it can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 112-320mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture affords consistent performance throughout the zoom range and also contributes to the relatively lightweight design and compact form factor.
One fluorite element and two ultra-low dispersion glass elements noticeably reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color fidelity.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to five shutter speed stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. Additionally, three dedicated image stabilization modes are available (Standard, During Exposure Only, and Panning) and can be selectively employed to suit a variety of types of shooting.
A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), along with an internal focusing system, is employed to deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
Focus Limiter switch lets you constrain the focusing to two different ranges to suit different applications: 3.3'-infinity or 9.8'-infinity.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture for working in inclement environmental conditions.
Optional AII(WII) Tripod Mount Ring is available and benefits working with the lens atop a tripod or monopod.
Compatible with optional EF 1.4X and EF 2X teleconverters.

Excellent Lens
I bought this lens on June 28, 2018 and took it with me on a cruise to Alaska the next day. The pictures that I shot with this lens were incredibly sharp and the colors were true to life. The image quality is so good that I used this lens most of the time.

Great clear pictures
I bought this to replace an older version and I am pretty happy with it. The lens does NOT come with a collar to mount to a tripod which is a big hassle to have to buy one separately.

Excellent lens!!
I just got this lens, I have taken some nature shoots, sport shoots, and portrait, all have exceeded my expectations! I am still learning this lens and the 6DMarkII I just bought but if you are indoubt go for it this is a huge step up : 0 ) A big plus in even higher ISO's the resolution is very sharp.

Best Lens Ever!
Purchased directly from Canon since I can get a nice discount through work. I am a very dedicated amateur learning fast with various lenses and the Canon 80D with the hope of upgrading to a full frame in the near future. So, I am learning and starting to build out my lens collection first before upgrading to a full frame.

An extremely useful lens
I have used the non-stabilized 70-200 f4 lens for several years. It is an excellent lens for certain. Given that my mind’s eye prefers telephoto photographs over wide angle shots, this older 70-200 spent a lot of time mounted to my camera. The lack of IS was not too hindering for my photography outside, although I did realize limitations from time to time. When shooting indoors, I found the lens less than ideal.

Significant upgrade
I owned version 1. I used it a lot and liked it a lot. But it does have weaknesses, notably it sometimes struggles to accurately focus on small objects. I didn't plan to upgrade until Canon sent me a discount. I have used version II for 3 months and have to say it's better than expected. Every image is extremely sharp. Color and contrast look improved too. I know lab tests show little or no improved sharpness but in real life, it is noticeable. Perhaps the improved autofocus and IS are the big factors in real world shooting. I shoot mostly outdoors--landscapes, wildlife and some portraits with both a 77D and 5D IV. I have also used it indoors for some portraits in low light where the IS has produced sharp images handheld and slow shutter speeds. If you're on the fence about upgrading---go for it!
