Marketed 1975. This superb 28mm lens was a new addition to the originally chrome mount ring series of renowned Canon FD of interchangeable lenses. It featured a remarkable large maximum aperture of f/2, making it one of the fastest 28mm lenses in the world. As the compensation of aberrations occurring in large aperture and wide angle conflict, larger apertures were considered to be difficult at wide angles. However, the spread of system cameras has led to wide-angle lenses being used as standard lenses, which increased demand for the development of a bright wide-angle lens with high performance.
