The Definitive Reference Lens for the M-System

The pre-owned Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH. (MFR #11891) in classic black stands as the absolute gold standard for normal-length prime lenses. Widely recognized by professional photojournalists, portrait photographers, and fine art purists as a reference-tier optic, this lens delivers unmatched resolution, edge-to-edge contrast, and a distinct visual signature. Engineered to push the absolute technical boundaries of 35mm full-frame photography, it provides incredible rendering whether shot wide open or stopped down. Perfect for low-light environmental portraits, street photography, and daily documentary work, this versatile prime seamlessly pairs a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture with an incredibly compact form factor tailored for rangefinder handling.

Sophisticated Optical Architecture and Advanced Floating Elements

Inside its precision-machined metal barrel, the Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH. utilizes a complex formula of eight elements arranged in five groups. To achieve near distortion-free results and pristine color fidelity, Leica incorporates one aspherical element alongside specialized anomalous partial dispersion and high refractive index glass elements. This advanced glass configuration controls spherical and chromatic aberrations, resulting in razor-sharp details and natural color rendition even under high-contrast lighting conditions. Furthermore, a rear floating element system alters its position relative to the main group during manual focusing. This mechanical masterpiece ensures that the lens maintains its breathtaking sharpness and clarity throughout its entire focusing range, all the way down to its minimum distance of 2.3 feet (0.7 meters).

Masterful Ergonomics, Smooth Focus, and Built-In Protection

Designed for seamless, intuitive operation, this black finish version features a tactile manual focus ring coupled with a dedicated finger tab, enabling lightning-fast, one-finger adjustments while tracking moving subjects. The lens barrel is equipped with a built-in, telescopic lens hood that effortlessly pulls out to shield the front optics from stray light, ghosting, and flare. The hood securely locks into place with a twist, ensuring it won't accidentally retract mid-shoot. The front element accepts standard 46mm screw-in filters, allowing you to easily mount neutral density or polarizing filters to tame bright daylight when shooting wide open at f/1.4.
