Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm F/1.8 D (USED)
The AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D is a short telephoto autofocus lens for Nikon F-Mount 35mm film SLR cameras and Nikon digital SLR Cameras (DSLRs). The 85mm f/1.8D is a very bright sharp contrasty lens that has been one of Nikon's most popular offerings for years on end. It's 28°30' angle of view works well for taking head and shoulders portraits at a moderate yet flattering distance. The f/1.8 maximum aperture produces very shallow depth of field making significant background blur possible. This bright optic also excels at shooting in available light where it's easier to see through and allows faster movement freezing shutter speeds than most lenses.
Originally released in 1994 the Nikkor 85mm 1.8D (Nikon USA part # 1931) is a replacement for the Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 (non-D Type, Nikon USA part # 1930); both models have identical optics but this newer version has a "D" chip that conveys distance information to compatible cameras for more accurate TTL flash exposure metering.
It's hard to go wrong with a Nikon 85mm f/1.8. The 85mm f/1.8D is an incredibly versatile optic capable of delivering evocative images that zooms can't reproduce. Not just ideal for photojournalists and portrait artists, this lens is a very popular choice for all sorts of photographers who just want a better quality sharper, brighter lens.
