The F4s has a rock-solid die-cast aluminum alloy chassis.  Its the armor that keeps the film plane and lens mount rigidly aligned for sharper pictures.  The Shutter in the F4s is built wi th dual curtains for virtually impregnable  light leak protection, even when you lock up the mirror.  Two types of blades are used. Aluminum, and epoxy with carbon fibers. The Result: Superior shutter accuracy and superior results.  For quality assurance, shutters are selected and tested up to one hundred and fifty thousand cycles. 

A shutter balancer made of high density tungsten alloy absorbs the minute internal vibrations which affect the critical range from 1/15th to 1/250th for improvved sharpness in hand held photography. 

As always, the stainless steel lens mount is compatible with the chrome brass mount featured on all Nikon Nikkor Lenses. 

The Bodys exterior rubber coating resists abrasion, and even has a "memory" that makes small gouges disappear.  Every control is sealed with rings of rubber bellows to resisit fine dust and moisture.
