  1. Comparison of New and Old 10L
    Quality

I own both bags. There is a big upgrade on the zippers. The zippers on my first edition failed and PD immediately sent me a replacement no questions asked. That said the new zippers are harder to open. I liked the older zippers even though they are not weatherproof. I also like the front pocket design better on the original 10L. It has more room for expansion and also some useful pockets that are missing on the new model. And the old front pocket is more easy to view contents. The new design pocket requires more effort to find things. I also liked the built in carry system on the old model better. When I had more gear in the front pocket I loosened the straps and with less I tightened them and they stowed away neatly. Immediate availability of the old storage straps also made them easy to deploy. With the new there are detachable straps and more likelihood of losing them. Finally, I like the leather accents on the old system better. This was probably a cost savings change. On the new model, I do like the slightly deeper shape, and the strap is light years better than the original. They are both great bags, but I think the great old is better than the great new. I give the old bag a 4 only because of the uncomfortable strap. I use a domke pad on mine and it helps. The new bag, gets the same rating standing on its own.
  2. Two steps forward two (three?) steps back
    Quality

Upgrading from the old 5L I expected to love this bag. The slightly large size, as well as external carry straps and better quick adjuster I always wanted on my sling, should be perfect. However, despite being larger the interior pockets are smaller. The stretch ones seem smaller, the zippered one definitely isn't as deep. The zipper goes further down on the bag but because it goes straight down rather than angles towards the front, the old sling actually opens much wider. Next, the strap, the padded section is much longer, comfortable when wearing over the shoulder, but makes it harder to put the strap at a length good for both shoulder, back, and waist carry. The opening to the rear sleeve is also much smaller, making it harder to stuff the pad in there for wait carry. Finally, aesthetics. This point is obviously much more personal taste, but I liked the old ash better, it was a more neutral grey where the new ash has a bluish-green hue to it. It's also a bit plain by comparison, everything is grey. Before several details like the strap and zipper was black, a nice accent. I also find it curious how the carry handle lost the leather and move to the back, opposite of the everyday backpack, where the handle gained a leather strip and was moved from the back to the top.
  3. Sling 3L Ash
    Quality

Fantastic quality and stylish, also offers good amount of protection. I just wish it was a liiitle bit larger so that I could fit my Sony A7C + both Tamron 28-200mm and 17-28mm in it. But with more compact lenses it is great.
  4. The Lil Camera Bag I’ve Been Waiting For
    Quality

I’ve rotated between a lot of Peak Design bags throughout the years. One of my favorite go-to bags when I travel is the Sling 5L. Small enough to keep my basic camera kit when I just want my Sony A7 (1 lens) or Olympus Pen F (1-3 lenses). Seeing the new 3L Sling it had a few upgrades that I wished for in the old 5L. The smaller size is even better as a street photography bag and fits smaller mirrorless kits like my Pen F perfectly. The strap isn’t as stiff as the 5L so it’s more comfortable to wear and I like the way the bag hangs against my back or side. My favorite feature is the added straps where I can easily strap a light tripod to the bag. The PD tripod will be a great addition to pack along with everything in a small camera setup. It fits wonderfully with the PD Travel Line backpack too. I plan to use them together on a few upcoming trips. I love how the Peak Design bags all work in a system together. It’s easy to mix and match. When I don’t need my full frame camera kit with me and want a lighter camera kit, the Sling 3L does the job for my adventures.
  5. Great Bag
    Quality

I bought this to hold my Sony a6000 with a couple of mid size lenses (holds a Sony e 18-105mm and prime sigma 16mm along with the usual other accessories you'd want). Will be a great bag to slip into my backpack or to use as a shoulder bag. When the bag is packed the tablet sleeve is pretty hard to access, though I don't see my self using that much.
