Overview

Do it all with the Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens for full-frame E-mount cameras. Able to cover everything from wide-angle to telephoto in a single compact form factor, this lens uses a variable aperture of f/3.5-6.3 to keep size and weight to a minimum. Ensuring maximum quality throughout the range the lens incorporates one extra-low dispersion element and five aspherical elements that combat various aberrations. Also, it has a linear autofocus motor and internal focus design that provides fast, accurate, and reliable focusing. Further benefitting use is built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization that reduces the impact of camera shake, especially at longer focal lengths. The lens is dust and moisture resistant as well, for operation in less-than-ideal conditions. And, it has a seven-blade circular diaphragm for smooth bokeh.

Designed to cover everything from wide-angle to telephoto perspectives, this full-frame 24-240mm E-mount lens can also be used on APS-C format cameras where it will provide an equivalent zoom range of 36-360mm.
A variable f/3.5-6.3 aperture helps keep lens size and weight to a minimum while still offering an outstanding 10x zoom range.
One extra-low dispersion glass element is featured in the lens design to help reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color neutrality.
Five aspherical elements are incorporated in the lens design to reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations.
Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. This stabilization system can also be combined with select camera's sensor-shift type image stabilization for more effective control of camera blur.
A linear autofocus motor and internal focus design provide quick and precise autofocus performance and enables accurate and silent focusing while recording videos.
Dust- and moisture-sealed design better permits working in inclement conditions and rubberized control rings benefit handling in colder temperatures.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques.

My default "go to" lens
Love the 24 to 240 range, its the lense I use most all the time. Makes taking pictures in any situation, (close up or far away) easy with out needing to swap lenses or carry and extra body and lense.

Travel lens
I bought this to have flexibility on travel with just 1 lens. On the whole it is an ok lens. My biggest difficulty is the minimum focusing distance.

My go to lens. Lite to carry easy for close ups.
I bought this lens about 5 years ago. Used for lot of my bird shoots but now I have 300mm to 600mm but it weights 7 pounds.

My all around workhorse.
I bought this lens as an all around upgrade for my kit lens on a A6000. Fast forward a few years, this lens is my all around workhorse. Wide enough for landscape, crisp for portraits, and great clarity for those must capture moments from across the room at events. It’s now married to an A7rIII and for the price, I couldn’t be happier with this setup.

Fair all-purpose lens for good light.
The good --- Wide range 24mm to 240mm, 10x. Extends out with firm zoom ring. Extended lens will move back under pressure from the front. I cannot judge the effectiveness of the Optical Steady Shot in the lens because I have an A7ii with Steadyshot in the camera itself (which works great unless you have it on a tripod in a vibrating car). The limitations --- f/3.5 at 24mm, f/6.3 at 240mm maximum aperture restricts your ability to get more light in dim settings requiring a higher ISO which may result in more noise. Minimum focus-able distance with zoom is about a yard/meter so macro close-ups are not an option, The bad --- Occasionally, The locking mechanism between the lens and camera clicks loose when twisting the zoom; disconnecting the autofocus, f-stop, and the shutter itself, requiring the camera to be turned off and back on to reconnect it. On average, this has happened to me about once per 1-2 hours of use. Very annoying. I would only recommend this to a friend after they fix the loose mount issue.
