- Anvil 17 - Great backpack for wildlife photographerI was looking for a backpack that was lightweight and the right size to carry the additional accessories I need for wildlife photography such as my large flash, my Better Beamer, my Wimberly flash bracket, tele-converters, spare batteries and memory cards, etc. I wanted one with an excellent and comfortable backpack harness that would allow me to carry my gear. I typically leave my primary camera with my large super telephoto lens mounted on my tripod balanced on my shoulder ready for any opportunity. In the Anvil 17 I have found the perfect such backpack with plenty of room for my gear with room to spare and a comfortable harness. The ARC components add additional flexibility for carrying a water bottle and small accessories at the ready. My only wish is that Tamrac would introduce a sling style camera strap that could be attached to the backpack harness for carrying a secondary camera body with a zoom lens at the ready. Black Rapid has the Backpack Breathe but it doesn't fit well to the Tamrac Anvil 17.
- Great bag!!!Replaced an Expedition 5 that was showing its 20+ years of use. This bag is great and has allowed me to pack an extra body and lens with room to spare. Excellent design with lots of space for all my gear, 2 bodies, 5 lens with hoods, flash with accessories, filters, batteries and more.
- Great bag for getting to gigs on a bikeThe bag is roomy enough, and carries weight well enough, that I can travel to gigs via bike. Importantly, there are a ton of ways to strap stuff to the outside of the bag. And even more important, the laptop slot is on the outside of the bag, and not on the inside against my back. This makes it possible to lean forward (like when riding a bike) without risk of crushing or bending my laptop. Only downside is the zippers feel a little sticky/cheap. But that's so minor it's still worth five starts to me.

- Great for airport travel!I recently purchased this bag ahead of a big international trip that involved multiple airports. This bag was great to hold all my gear comfortably and wear through airports and while hiking, but the biggest benefit is that the camera storage compartment unzips to open completely and be flat. This allowed me to unzip that bag and keep all of my camera equipment inside through airport security screening, which is an enormous savings of time and sanity! I can't recommend this highly enough for those who are regularly taking camera equipment through airports!!
